Frequently Asked Questions

Buying From Cucina Foods

Products

Q. Can I buy from you if I don't live in Auckland?
A. If you live outside of Auckland and can provide a business address for delivery, we can deliver to you freight free for orders of $100 and over.  At this stage the courier company we use will not deliver to private addresses, and we are sorry but we don’t yet have a service for the South Island.

Q. What exactly is the 'Auckland area' you deliver to?
A.
The Auckland area is south as far as Papakura/Drury, North as far as Albany and Long Bay, North West as far as Huapai and Riverhead, and East as far as Howick.

Q. Who actually delivers my order?
A. For deliveries in Auckland we use a courier company called Customised Deliveries who operate a fleet of small trucks and have provided us with good service for many years now.  For outside of Auckland (the rest of the North Island) we use Big Chill who specialise in chilled and frozen transport.

Q. Why buy from Cucina Foods?
A.  There is nowhere else in NZ that makes and sells fresh Pasta that tastes as good.  Our fresh Pasta is hand made to exacting standards ‘to order’ – which is why we’ve been supplying Chefs at all the best restaurants for over 10 years.  We use time-honoured artisan methods and we have access to the best and freshest ingredients money can buy.

Q. Why use fresh pasta?
A.  Fresh Pasta is very fast to cook, has a yield close to that of dried Pasta, and has a wonderful texture and flavour compared to dried Pasta – because Fresh Pasta can be time-consuming and a hassle to make, we make it for you.

Q. How is Cucina Foods Pasta different from supermarket retail brands?
A.  Most supermarket or retail brands are gas-flushed or contain additives and preservatives to give them a longer shelf-life.  Generally supermarkets don’t cope well with short shelf life and they want goods to last as long as possible.  Our fresh Pasta has a 10 day shelf life from the time it’s made – we reckon that’s all the time you’ll need to gobble it all up!  And if you don’t end up using it all by the use-by date on the pack, you can freeze it.

Q. Can I freeze any left-over fresh Pasta?
A.  Yes – just be sure to cook it from frozen.  And don't forget that it has a 10 day chilled shelf life so you don't need to freeze it until just before the 'Best Before' date.  Once the water is boiling, add salt, put the Pasta in, bring back to the boil, and stir well to separate the strands.

Q. What if there's something I want that is not on the list?
A.  Email us and let us know and we'll get back to you with suggestions on availability or possible substitutes.  We value our customers feedback so we're always happy to hear from you.

Q. Are your products organic?
A.  No, they’re not – but they are made from the best quality ingredients available in the market.

Q. Do you make Gluten free products?
 A.  We only make 1 Gluten Free product, which is a GF Pumpkin & Potato Gnocchi.  We don't plan to add to the range because logistically it's difficult to make as we are so busy making Pasta and using conventional flour - with gluten free production we have to do special scheduling to avoid cross-contamination.

Ordering

Q. Is there a minimum order?
A.  Yes, the minimum order value is $35.00 for Auckland delivery and $100.00 for business addresses only in the North Island. Your shopping cart will tally up what you've spent as you order.

Q. How much is delivery?
A.  Delivery is free

Q. How do you deliver?
A.  We deliver all of our orders by a refrigerated courier service which ensures that the products arrive safely and promptly.  We need to have a physical delivery address, not a P.O. Box number, and also let us know if there are any special delivery instructions of where to leave your order if you're not home or at work at the time.

Q. Once I’ve placed the order, when will I receive delivery?
A.  You’ll receive your order within 1-2 working days of placing it – bear in mind that we’re making your fresh Pasta especially for you so we’ll make it and despatch it as fast as we can.  We don't deliver on weekends, your order will generally be delivered between Monday to Friday.

Q. Can you deliver to my workplace?
A. Yes, we sure can.  Just put your work address details in when you place your order.  It also pays to make sure that there is plenty of room in your workplace fridge or freezer for your goods too.

Q. What confirmation do I receive when I place my order?
A.  You’ll receive an email confirmation of your order, and we will advise an approximate delivery date.

Q.  Can I collect from you rather than have it delivered?
A.  Yes, if you would like to collect from us we will let you know what day and date your order will be ready, and you can call in and pick it up between 7.00am and 2.30pm on that day.  We allocate this time window to ensure that collections don't clash with our courier pick up times.

A.  Credit card payments will be debited automatically when you place your order so you will see the debit amount appear on your credit card statement for the same day that you’ve ordered.

Packaging and Delivery

Q. How is the product packed?

Q. If my filled pasta arrives partially defrosted is it still good?
A.  So long as the Pasta is not all clumped and sticking together ie completely defrosted, it will be good to store frozen and always cook it from frozen.

Q. Can I keep the fresh pasta frozen if I don’t need it all immediately?
A.  Yes, the Pasta frozen is a good way to store it and always cook it from frozen, don’t defrost first.

Q. What if I’m not home when the product arrives?
A.  The order has been packed with ice pad slickers to keep it frozen or chilled depending on the goods, so it should last in a good chilled/frozen state until you get home.
